A priority action within the Mental Wellness and Addictions Recovery Action Plan released in 2019 and this Government’s mandate is to support the health and well-being of NWT residents by strengthening peer support and increasing the number and variety of culturally-respectful, community based mental health and addictions programs, including aftercare. To ensure that we continue to meet the needs of residents, we are seeking input from individuals (and their families) living with or have lived with addictions, and who have accessed NWT addictions recovery services, to identify what is working, what needs to be strengthened, and any barriers or challenges they had in accessing services.
This survey is the first approach to engagement around addictions recovery, and its results will inform future additional engagement activities such as targeted focus groups.
The survey can be accessed here:
Deadline for feedback is March 31, 2021.
Results from this survey will help inform the development of a Territorial level report to be used in the continuous quality improvement of the mental wellness and addictions recovery system, including the need for an NWT treatment facility and a Territorial Alcohol Strategy.
We are asking for your support to raise awareness of this survey by making this information available in your communities and encouraging service-users and residents who have accessed NWT addictions recovery supports/services to complete the survey.
